Ishaku Abbo, a former senator from Adamawa North Senatorial District in Nigeria, has categorically refuted recent claims that he was involved in a sexual scandal involving a married woman.

The allegations started after a widely shared video clip went viral online last week, allegedly showing a light-skinned man having sex with a married woman. In a another video, which surfaced on Monday on the social media site X (formerly known as Twitter), a woman alleged that the former politician was sexually harassing her and that he was extorting money from her.

But in a Monday press conference, Senator Abbo addressed these accusations and categorically denied them. He said that the incident was set up by his political opponents to damage his reputation. “How can you identify a person without seeing his face, his body, only parts of his legs, and you said it is Senator Abbo,” he added. The former congressman, citing previous politicians who had survived comparable adversity, asserted that no amount of blackmail could thwart his political goals. “I will continue to win elections despite blackmail.

Despite being featured in a sex tape with his whole body, a senator from a northern state managed to win a Senate seat, and his spouse was elected to the House of Representatives. I am loved by my folks. Blackmail won’t be able to stop me,” Abbo declared. Note that on October 16, 2023, the Appeal Court abruptly dismissed Senator Abbo from office.

He had already run afoul of the law, most notably after he was charged with assaulting a nursing mother at an Abuja sex toy store two years ago. Abbo is unwavering in his denial of any misconduct as the story develops, characterizing the accusations as a politically driven smear campaign.
