Police Launch Investigation into Alleged Poisoning of Tourism Minister

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has initiated an investigation into the alleged poisoning of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John.

Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case from the Mabushi Police Division, where the initial probe began.

Ade-John, 60, a recent appointee as a minister by President Bola Tinubu in August, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja after displaying symptoms of acute poisoning from an unknown source. Her family members, gripped with fear, are desperately seeking answers as her condition remains critical.

The FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the transfer of the case, stating, “The CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was investigating the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID.”

Details surrounding the incident remain scant, as officials at the Federal Medical Centre, where Ade-John is being treated, have not responded to inquiries. Sources close to the family revealed that the minister has been hospitalized for five days, heightening concerns about the urgency of the situation.

The motive behind this alleged poisoning and the identity of the perpetrator remain unknown, leaving both the public and authorities perplexed. The nation anxiously awaits further updates on this grave matter as investigations continue.
