In a recent development in the investigation surrounding the tragic demise of Afrobeats musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Samson Balogun Eletu, alias Sam Larry, along with two others, in police custody for 21 days.

The decision came after the Lagos State Police Command’s request for a 30-day detention period for the suspects.

Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun ruled that Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Ogedengbe Fisayo, and Ayobami Sadiq should be held in the police State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) while investigations into Mohbad’s death continue. The suspects have been charged with conspiracy and suspected murder.

During the hearing, the Magistrate ensured that the detainees would have access to medical assistance and legal representation of their choice. The case has been adjourned until October 25, as law enforcement authorities delve deeper into the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s untimely demise on September 12.

The investigation also led to the declaration of Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, as a wanted individual by the Lagos State Police Command. According to Ben Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, Primeboy is being sought in connection with Mohbad’s death. Hundeyin disclosed that Primeboy, described as approximately 1.64 meters tall, male, dark-complexioned, with tribal marks and Yoruba by tribe, has failed to respond to police invitations. The Police Commissioner, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has announced a reward of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira Only) for anyone providing credible information leading to Primeboy’s arrest.

Following Mohbad’s passing, public attention has been intensely focused on Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and other individuals associated with the Marlian record label. Allegations of bullying against the late musician have further fueled the controversy surrounding the case.

The nation waits anxiously for the outcome of the ongoing investigation, hoping for justice to prevail in the tragic loss of a promising young talent in the Nigerian music industry.
