Davido, a renowned artist, has highlighted the key figures who played pivotal roles in establishing the Afrobeats genre on the global music stage, emphasizing that artists like Burna Boy and others were relatively new to the scene.

During an interview with Brut Afrique, the award-winning entertainer discussed how he and Wizkid spearheaded the Afrobeats global movement.

Davido also expressed admiration for the contributions made by other emerging artists, whom he referred to as the “new cats,” including Burna Boy, Asake, Rema, and several others.

“As many people know, Wizkid and I were among the pioneers who propelled Afrobeats to its current prominence. It’s a great feeling to witness the emergence of new talents, such as Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and the likes. They are making remarkable strides in the industry. Asake, who featured on my album, is another promising artist. Overall, I am optimistic about the future of Afrobeats,” Davido expressed.

In this statement, Davido acknowledges his and Wizkid’s influential roles in popularizing Afrobeats, while also giving credit to the rising stars who are making significant contributions to the genre.
