Ghanaian Musician Wendy Shay Involved in Serious Car Accident

Award-winning Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has been involved in a harrowing car accident in the early hours of Sunday, September 10, 2023. The incident unfolded on the ACP Estate and Kwabenya stretch in Accra, according to an eyewitness account.

The eyewitness, who was on the scene shortly after the accident occurred, described the circumstances surrounding the crash. “Between the ACP Junction and the Kwabenya stretch, you know the road is usually clear at night, and so the cars are usually at top speed, even though there is police presence on the road,” the eyewitness stated.

Continuing the account, the eyewitness mentioned, “A short distance away from the KNUST Accra Campus Junction, coming out of the valley, I saw people gathered around a car. So, I decided to park and see what was happening. Upon checking, I realized a lady was coming out of a car. She had dreadlocked hair just like Wendy Shay. So, I said, let me rush and see, and upon getting closer, I saw it was Wendy Shay. The Wrangler she was using has a custom registration, ‘Shay.'”

Deputy News Editor of UTV, Prince Obimpeh, provided further insight into Wendy Shay’s condition during a live interview on United Showbiz hosted by MzGee. “Quickly, I got closer to her and asked her what was happening. She said she can’t talk much, as she’s in severe pain in the head because she hit her head on the dashboard.”

The eyewitness went on to explain that the accident occurred when Wendy Shay’s vehicle collided with a tipper truck loaded with sand while attempting to evade it. Fortunately, part of her car skidded into a roadside gutter, preventing a potential rollover.

A video shared by UTV from the accident scene depicted a severely damaged front side of Wendy Shay’s Jeep Wrangler with the registration “SHAY 21-19.”

Efforts are currently underway to transport Wendy Shay to a nearby health facility for medical attention as she recovers from this distressing incident. The Ghanaian music community and fans of Wendy are undoubtedly concerned about her well-being and are eagerly awaiting updates on her condition.
