Dr. Carla Crummie has recently come into the spotlight as the fiancée of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship pastor Dr. Tony Evans.

Their engagement was announced during a Sunday service on September 10, 2023. It was a significant moment as Dr. Evans also paid tribute to his late wife, Lois, who passed away four years ago. Dr. Crummie’s engagement to Dr. Evans was revealed during celebrations for his 74th birthday in Dallas.

During the announcement, Dr. Evans asked for prayers during this “sensitive time,” acknowledging the challenges of moving forward after the loss of Lois, his wife of nearly 50 years. He was joined on stage by his four children, Priscilla Shirer, Anthony Evans Jr, Crystal Hurst, and Jonathan Evans, emphasizing the close-knit nature of their family.

Dr. Tony Evans’ late wife, Lois, tragically passed away on December 30, 2019, after battling biliary cancer.

Now, let’s delve into who Dr. Carla Crummie is. She is a Christian therapist, author, and the Kindness ambassador of The Urban Alternative. Additionally, Dr. Crummie is a John Maxwell certified life coach with a diverse clientele. Her expertise primarily lies in Christian counseling, particularly in assisting couples and blending families together.

Before her engagement to Dr. Evans, she was previously married to Dr. Robert W Crummie, and the couple worked together until his unfortunate passing in January 2020. In a poignant revelation, Dr. Evans shared that Robert tragically passed away while on his way to Lois’ funeral.

Dr. Evans and Lois Irene Cannings met when he was just 18 years old and married in 1968, celebrating their 47th anniversary together in 2017. Lois passed away at the age of 70.

As for Dr. Tony Evans, according to his official website, he began delivering preaching content on a Houston radio show while he was a junior in Dallas Theological Seminary’s ThM program. This marked the beginning of his impactful preaching career. The Urban Alternative, an organization he co-founded, was established in 1981 alongside Lois Evans.

Dr. Evans has received numerous honors, including the Father of the Year award from the Dallas Father of the Year Committee, the Marian Pfister Anschutz Award, honorary Doctorates of Humane Letters from St. Davids, and honorary Doctorates of Divinity from the Dallas Baptist Church, among other achievements. He has also served as an associate professor in the Pastoral Ministries Department at the Dallas Theological Seminary and is a board member of DTS’ Incorporate Members.

In addition to his ministry work, Dr. Evans has a history of serving as a chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. His life has been marked by dedication to his faith, family, and community.
