The highly anticipated race took place at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm, with Amusan delivering an impressive performance that propelled her to the top of the podium with a time of 12.52 seconds.

Amusan, the reigning world champion and record holder, exhibited her exceptional skills as she outpaced her competitors. Sarah Avalanche of Ireland finished in second place with a time of 12.73 seconds, while Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland secured the third spot with a time of 12.78 seconds.

This win comes shortly after Amusan’s notable second-place finish at the Lausanne Diamond League, where she raced behind Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and matched her season-best time of 12.47 seconds. As she continues to demonstrate her prowess on the track, Amusan’s focus remains on defending her title at the upcoming World Athletics Championship in Budapest later this year.

Last year, the 26-year-old athlete showcased exceptional performances across various prestigious events, including the Diamond League, Commonwealth Games, and World Athletics Championships. Notably, she etched her name in history as the first Nigerian to win a world championship in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking an impressive but wind-aided time of 12.06 seconds. She followed this achievement with a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and successfully defended her Diamond League title, culminating in an exceptional season.

Amusan’s outstanding achievements have not gone unnoticed, as she received a nomination for the 2023 Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year award in February. This prestigious accolade recognizes outstanding individuals and teams in the world of sports and celebrates their remarkable accomplishments throughout the year under review.

With her recent triumph in Stockholm, Tobi Amusan continues to solidify her position as one of the world’s top hurdlers and remains a formidable contender in her quest for further athletic glory.
