Zimbabwean Musician and Activist Terry Gee dies at age 36

The Zimbabwean entertainment industry is in mourning following the untimely death of beloved singer and activist, Terry Gee, at the age of 36. The news of his passing was confirmed by his manager, Edison December, as reported by H-Metro, sending shockwaves through the community.

Terry Gee, known for his hit track “Ndezvemoyo,” was not just a musical sensation but also a talented actor. Tragically, he succumbed to cardiac arrest while receiving treatment for heart and lung disease at Arundel Hospital in Harare.

The artist’s mother, Violet Green, had earlier issued a statement informing fans of her son’s critical condition. In an emotional plea, she said, “Terry is not feeling well in the hospital. So far his friends who want to see him, we ask for strong prayers because Terry is in a bad position.”

Fans and well-wishers rallied to support the ailing musician by raising $250 for a crucial brain scan. The funds, unfortunately, couldn’t alter the course of events, and the entertainer passed away.

Terry Gee, born Tichaona Terrence Green, faced the challenges of cerebral palsy since birth, a condition that profoundly affected his movement and posture. Despite his physical limitations, he pursued education at Jairos Jiri Association and Kuwadzana High 2, showcasing determination and resilience.

Inspired by icons such as Baba naMai Charamba and Jah Prayzah, Gee ventured into the music industry, collaborating with Baba Harare in his first project. His legacy extended beyond music, as he also showcased his acting skills in the popular local Zimbabwean drama, “Zviri Mudzimba,” aired on ZBC TV.
