Outshining formidable contenders such as French vocalist Aya Nakamura, British superstars Ella Mai, Stormzy, and Central Cee, as well as fellow Nigerian artist Ayra Starr, the acclaimed singer-songwriter emerged triumphant in the category.

This remarkable victory further solidifies Burna Boy’s unrivaled status as the most decorated individual in the history of the BET Awards’ “Best International Act” category, with an unprecedented total of four wins.

Previously, Burna Boy had consecutively claimed the honor for three consecutive years (2019, 2020, and 2021), and now his reign continues with this latest achievement.

Notably, since the establishment of the “Best International Act” category at the BET Awards in 2018, Nigerians have exclusively dominated the field, with Davido becoming the inaugural recipient and rising star Tems earning the accolade last year.

While Burna Boy basks in his triumph, it is worth mentioning that Nigerian singer Asake narrowly missed out on the “Best New International” award, which was instead bestowed upon Cameroonian star Libianca during the eventful evening.
