Chelsea expects good news, but decided to examine their star defender before sending him on a protracted flight to the United States.

The 23-year-old seeks to recover from a season in which injuries prevented him from playing in half of Chelsea’s games.

James is a key component of the ambitions of the new Blues manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who also believes that he can improve his fitness through warm-up games against Wrexham, Brighton, Fulham, and Newcastle.

James should be able to participate in Chelsea’s hectic three-week trip, which will assist Pochettino’s squad get ready for their home match against Liverpool on the first weekend of the Premier League season.

Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are not anticipated to be included in the Blues’ squad after being informed they are not required to train this week and that their return date is now set for Monday, when the club is on the road.

Chelsea hopes to sell those players, as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is presently working out with the Under-21s, prior to their scheduled returns.

Despite their dissatisfaction with the most recent £25.7 million bid, Chelsea is still in contact with Inter Milan over Lukaku, and Fulham is sure that they will sign Hudson-Odoi.
